HISTORY OF THE SOUTHEAST BOWLING ASSOCIATION, INC. The Southeast Bowling Association, Inc., (SBA) was chartered on July 3, 1991, in Taylors, SC, for the purpose of fostering and promoting the sport of bowling (American ten pins) and to conduct an annual handicap championship bowling tournament open to all members, at that time, of the American Bowling Congress, and now, to all members of the United States Bowling Congress residing in the southeastern United States. The organizing Board of Directors held its first meeting in Columbia, SC, on August 17-19, 1991. The Board elected officers; organized and structured the SBA as a non-profit corporation; framed the SBA Constitution and By-laws; and designated the Florida Space Coast Bowling Association, Melbourne, FL, to host the 1st annual SBA tournament. The SBA filed an application for and was granted non-profit status with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. In succeeding months, the SBA adopted a logo - featuring the Association name and a bowling theme - and awarded its second annual SBA tournament to the Greater Greenville Bowling Association, Greenville, SC. Tournament locations and the number of teams participating by year are shown:
